Architectural requirements for Emergency Response Network

Date: 29th September 2010
Speakers: Sukhbir Sethi, Collaboration Architect, Cisco Systems.
                 Mouli Chandramouli, Architect, Cisco Systems.

Summary: A vital part of communications network infrastructure is to provide the capability for citizens to contact the appropriate authorities (fire, medical or police) in the event of emergency events. Providing such a communications network infrastructure is typically a function of the public safety and disaster preparedness policy of the government often enforced by the telecommunications regulatory authority of the government. In this workshop participants will learn about the business and technical requirements for Emergency Response networks and the challenges for offering emergency response in emerging countries. They will discover the solution framework for deploying Emergency Response Infrastructure in emerging economies, keeping in mind some of the local challenges.

Social Software Tools: A Critical Evaluation

Date: 29th September 2010
Speakers: Apoorv Durga, Analyst, Real Story Group.

Summary: So far technology analysts have focused on the social and business aspects of social software. And yet, social software tools --- including collaboration suites, pure-play blog / wiki / social-networking products, and revamped portal products from major vendors --- differ quite substantially in maturity, approach, and support. This session will share customer research from noted evaluation firm Real Story Group (formerly, CMS Watch) on leading social software technologies, and provide a framework for customers to evaluate the marketplace based on their own needs.
