Speaker: Prashanta Ghoshal, Director IT Solutions and Services, Geometric
Abstract: A leader in PLM, engineering services and offshore product development solutions and technologies, Geometric was grappling with issues pertaining to conventional desktop deployment. Individual personalization done on PCs prevented standardization, demanded increased support requirements and led to software related errors.
Geometric tackled this issue innovatively through a large desktop virtualization initiative that allowed Geometric's employees to access their server-hosted virtual desktop from anywhere, and from a broad range of end-user devices, without affecting security or performance.

After the initial deployment of the solution for 250 desktops, the company obtained significant benefits in total cost of ownership, which will improve with scale. The company anticipates a cost reduction of around INR 12 lakh in power costs of 600 desktops in a years' time. The solution has also eliminated downtime due to desktop hardware issues completely. To know more, attend an insightful session from Prashanta Ghoshal, Director IT Solutions and Services, Geometric, as he shares best practices and insights into how the desktop virtualization initiative has helped his firm improve efficiencies and security without sacrificing performance

Speaker: Alpna Doshi, CIO, Reliance Communications
Abstract: When the Reliance group acquired Flag Telecom, Yipes Enterprise Services and the Vanco Group, it also brought in a huge list of challenges. Both solution (applications) and business processes needed to be upgraded, streamlined and converged so that these companies could work in harmony with the rest of the group as well amongst themselves. It was decided to centralize and control IT from India, wherever possible. A mammoth project had to be taken up on priority. It had to happen without affecting the large international customer base.

Join us in an insightful session with Alpna Doshi, CIO, Reliance Communications, as she shares best practices and lessons learnt in this initiative where the firm had to deal with multiple dimensions of nationality, languages, geography, varied hardware and system applications.

Abstract: Today's enterprise campus networks are expected to deliver services thought impossible just a few years ago. Video conferencing, real-time collaboration, distance learning, and patient monitoring are just a few of the applications that organizations are deploying to enhance employee productivity, improve customer service, and create a competitive advantage. Additionally, anytime, anywhere mobile access has become ubiquitous with an explosion of wireless devices connected to the network, along with rising user expectations. At the same time, enterprises face continued pressure to reduce costs. In short, IT is being asked to do more with less.

To understand how to address this challenge, attend a session by George Chacko, Systems Engineer Manager and Lead Technical Consultant, Brocade, as he tells us how networking solutions can help organizations deliver industry-leading availability with the best price-performance value.

Speaker: Abilash Sonwane, Senior VP, Elitecore Technologies
Abstract: This session would depict a behind-the-scenes journey into the social media activities of a sample of 20 companies as well as their employees and partners who were mainly active on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. The objective of this experiment is to show how individual tidbits of information lying across social media, when seen together as an applied jigsaw puzzle, can reveal surprising insider information about the company that wouldn't be readily available to outsiders.

Through direct revelations, unmonitored tweets and logical deductions gathered from social media, it is possible for anyone including competitors to learn about an organization's core values, hierarchy, communication style, organizational motivation, industry environment, employee morale, business challenges, systems and processes, competitive information and intellectual property.

The aim here is to sensitize the attendees regarding this phenomenon by sharing an internal research that was done by the speaker's team, studying 20 sample organizations active on social networking sites where the objective was to get as much information as possible about these organizations. The findings are entertaining and scary at the same time.
